About Us

Quinta das Arcas was set up in the 1980s by Esteves Monteiro, following work begun in the previous decade to restructure the family's agricultural business, with a strong focus on reparcelling and implementing modern viticulture. In 1985, he founded the company, launching the first bottles under the Arca Nova brand.

Throughout this time, the company has focused on production, following a path of improving quality while minimising the impact on nature. In 2012, with around 200 hectares of vineyards in the Vinho Verde region, Quinta das Arcas launched its first organic wine on the market.

At the turn of the century, the company also expanded to another region (Alentejo) where Esteves Monteiro embraced a new project, now 400 kilometres to the south, in a very characteristic and unique microclimate for the production of great wines. Today, the 120 hectares of vineyards surrounding the modern winery produce the best wines in the Borba region. Herdade Penedo Gordo has become a benchmark in the region.

With a total production of around 2,500,000 litres, Quinta das Arcas is now a company with well-established foundations for a prosperous future in the global market for quality wines.

Mission

The main mission of Quinta das Arcas is the production of quality wines with respect for nature and the creation of value-added brands for the consumer.

Being a family tradition company of high reference and notoriety in the production of Vinhos Verdes and Alentejo.
